Webelos Scout Clinics – Walkabout Core Adventure 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM Clinic @ 1000 Islands Environmental Center

Webelos Scout Clinic – Walkabout Core Adventure at 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM

The morning clinic starts at 10:00 AM and is done at 12:30 PM. The afternoon clinic starts at 1:00 PM and concludes at 3:30 PM

Get ready to hike by being well prepared. Leaders will take the scouts for a three-mile hike through the Conservancy Zone during the clinic. Scouts are encouraged to bring a nutritious snack/lunch and a water bottle for the hike. Dress appropriately for weather and trails may be muddy.

Please register as a den. Pre-registration is required along with a payment of $8.00 per scout or sibling. Leaders and adults are free.

A Storybook Walk and Adventure – Reading the book “All the Water in the World” @ 1000 Islands Environmental Center
Apr 30 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

This is a fun, educational activity for the entire family.

Enjoy the outdoors and read the book All the Water in the World by George Ella Lyon on our kid-friendly boardwalk trail. Reading stations will be set up along the boardwalk for a self-guided walk to read a page or two at each station. Visit each station to read the entire book and pick up a take and make craft to complete at home.

After completing the book, be sure to explore the Conservancy Zone and trails. A virtual story time and educational program will be available online at the end of the program (3:00 PM) as well.

This is a FREE program for everyone.

1000 Little Wonders Outside Class – Will read the book “Feathers for Lunch” @ 1000 Islands Environmental Center
Apr 30 @ 9:30 am – 10:15 am

This will be an outside, in-person class for children ages 3 – 5 years old and their parent/guardian.

Miss Stephanie will start by reading the book Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert and she will take a short hike with the children around the property to learn more about why birds sing songs in the springtime. Please dress accordingly and the trails/grass may be muddy.

Postponed – Nature’s Images Spring Art and Craft Fair @ 1000 Islands Environmental Center

The Friends of 1000 Islands have decided to postpone the Nature’s Images Spring Art Fair this year due to continued Covid concerns. The Friends group may decide to host a Fall Art Fair.

Crayfish Craze! Community Crayfish Hunt @ 1000 Islands Environmental Center
Jun 8 @ 9:30 am – 11:00 am

Join the staff for an exciting adventure in the Konkapot Creek catching crayfish and other aquatic critters. Staff members will initially gather everyone by the Butterfly Garden for an introduction and give you instructions on how to find crayfish. We will then as a group walk over to the Konkapot Creek and assist anyone needing.

Please wear sunscreen and bring bug spray to use if necessary. Wear water shoes or tennis shoes to walk into the water and if you have an ice cream bucket and/or bait net, please bring them with you.

This is a FREE family program.

Birdhouse Building Clinic @ 1000 Islands Environmental Center
Jun 10 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Put together a wooden birdhouse using pre-cut wood pieces in this building clinic. All wood pieces and nails will be provided. This is an on-site building clinic and we encourage everyone to stay on-site to build the birdhouse. Once your birdhouse is built, take it home and decorate it or hang it up as it is in your yard.

We have limited hammers, so please bring one if possible.
