Kenneth Avenue Area Utility Relay Project – Wk of 10/10/22

Posted on Oct 10, 2022 by

WHITNEY STREET, 6TH STREET, 7TH STREET, & 8TH STREET AREAS:

CONSTRUCTION

There will be no work on site all next week. As of now, the Private Lateral Contractor (M & E Construction), is scheduled to arrive on site the week of October 17th to begin working on private laterals. I have sent them my spreadsheet containing contact information for those who returned waivers and elected to have this work performed. They will be setting appointments with you in order to complete work required inside your house. Paving is scheduled on 6th and Whitney the week of October 24th. This may get bumped up to the week of the 17th depending on contractor availability. Any updates will be posted next week.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING

Driveways will be accessible all week. 6th and Whitney are still Gravel roads for the most part, so please continue to drive carefully down those streets.

  • If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange for different parking options if we know about them. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all for parking and the fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done and finish the neighborhood.

SAFETY

While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on the dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER*

Utility and street construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, and construction equipment everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We ask for your patience and understanding as we make the necessary improvements to your street and utilities. Do not hesitate to contact the City with questions or concerns, we can’t help if we don’t know. Contact Taylor Conger, Project Engineer, at 920.766.6305 or [email protected] with any questions.
