WHITNEY STREET, 6TH STREET, 7TH STREET, & 8TH STREET AREAS:

PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION

09/09-09/10 – The Paving Contractor will be on site this afternoon and tomorrow to mill, prep, and pave 8th Street from Crooks to Kenneth, and Main, Sullivan, and Hendricks Avenue from 8th Street toward 9th Street. Whatever they don’t finish today and tomorrow they will continue to work on throughout next week.

SEWER CONSTRUCTION

The Main Sewer crew will begin working on Sanitary Sewer Monday. They will be working on Main Avenue from 5th Street to 6th Street, then turning on to 6th Street and working west from Main Avenue toward Kenneth Avenue. Sometime during the middle of the week, the 2nd Sewer crew will be coming back to the site. They are going to finish the last piece of water main on 6th Street near Kenneth, then begin sewer laterals and water services in the right of way (from back of sidewalk on each side of street). They will do this following the same working path as the main crew.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING

Access to your driveway may be restricted when construction is happening on your block. The contractor performing the work uses large machines, dump trucks, and needs ample space to store the items needed for the work being performed. Please find an alternate parking space during the day if you need to come and go. You may park on side streets or areas where work is not actively happening (see above work locations map showing where NOT to park on streets). Driveways will be opened and accessible at the end of each day as construction is ending. You may park overnight in your driveway. Construction normally begins by 7:00am each day, so please move your vehicles accordingly.

  • If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange for different parking options if we know about them. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all for parking and the fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done and finish the neighborhood.

SAFETY

While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on the dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER*

Utility and street construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, and construction equipment everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We ask for your patience and understanding as we make the necessary improvements to your street and utilities. Do not hesitate to contact the City with questions or concerns, we can’t help if we don’t know. Contact Taylor Conger, Project Engineer, at 920.766.6305 or [email protected] with any questions.
