Public Feedback on Island Street Bridge Replacement – August 2020

Posted on Aug 11, 2020 by

The City of Kaukauna is in the process of developing plans for the replacement of the Island Street bridge over the Tail Race of the Fox River in the City of Kaukauna in Outagamie County.

The project length is approximately 300 feet. The project corridor is classified as a Minor Arterial. Proposed improvements to the corridor include replacement of the existing bridge and roadway approaches including new pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, and water main. The project will closely match the existing horizontal and vertical alignments. Right of way acquisitions and temporary limited easements are anticipated for bridge installation and grading. Construction is currently scheduled for the summer of 2022.

Due to COVID-19, all in-person meetings are being conducted virtually. The public meeting event includes a PowerPoint presentation and exhibit materials, which are posted on the City of
Kaukauna’s website (https://kaukauna.gov/island-st-info/). A project handout including all information discussed in the presentation and a comment form are posted on the City’s website in lieu of an in-person informational meeting.

All community members are welcome and encouraged to provide feedback. The public involvement comment period will extend through August 28, 2020.

The project design team is seeking the community’s input on any concerns that individuals may have on how the project impacts these resources. Persons with a concern for or knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites are encouraged to attend this meeting or provide comments to the local units of government or the consultant.
