The City of Kaukauna Inspection Department is a Wisconsin Certified Agency and may review plans for public buildings and places of employment prior to construction for compliance with state statutes and building codes and standards for energy efficiency, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Per Wisconsin SPS-361, the Department is limited to projects as follows:
- A new building or structure containing less than 50,000 cubic feet of total volume.
- An addition to a building or structure where the area of the addition results in the entire building or structure containing less than 50,000 cubic feet of total volume.
- An addition containing no more than 2,500 square feet of total floor area and no more than one floor level, provided the largest roof span does not exceed 18 feet and the exterior wall height does not exceed 12 feet.
- An alternation of a space in a building containing less than 100,000 cubic feet of total building volume.
At least three sets of complete building plans and one copy of specifications shall be submitted to this Department for examination. Submittals shall be accompanied by a completed Wisconsin SPS Application for review and a check for the fee amount calculated within SBD-118. The Department shall retain one copy of the plans and specifications and will return any additional copies upon completion of the review process. Lead time on commercial plan review is ten days.
